Note from the artist about this piece:

Amid a seemingly endless flood of violence and racial hostility in the US, it is essential that we stay connected to our own inner workings... taking time to just be. This piece was inspired by the Tao Te Ching. Which is a classic Chinese text that is traditionally credited to a 6th-century BC sage, Lao Tzu. This incredible text has become a guiding light for me when I am going through a difficult season.

I hope this short chapter and my art can guide you towards a sense of peace within the chaos. Sending love to you wherever you are.

Chapter 16

Empty your mind of all thoughts.
Let your heart be at peace.
Watch the turmoil of beings,
but contemplate their return.

Each separate being in the universe
returns to the common source.
Returning to the source is serenity.
If you don't realize the source,
you stumble in confusion and sorrow.
When you realize where you come from,
you naturally become tolerant,
disinterested, amused,
kindhearted as a grandmother,
dignified as a king.
Immersed in the wonder of the Tao,
you can deal with whatever life brings you,
and when death comes, you are ready.
